26.2 miles
Indianapolis Monumental Marathon
A flat 26.2 from the Indiana Statehouse north to Broad Ripple and back downtown.
About the race
The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon starts and finishes near the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis. The course heads north through the Old Northside, Fall Creek Place and Historic Meridian Park, reaches its far point in Broad Ripple around the halfway mark, then turns back through Butler-Tarkington and past the Heslar Naval Armory just after mile 20 on the way downtown.
Carlton Ray founded the race in 2008, and just over 1,100 runners finished that first year. It is run each November on a course the organizers describe as fast and flat, which has made it a favorite for runners chasing a personal best or a Boston qualifying time.
This poster traces the full route on a street map of Indianapolis, with the White River curving along its west side and the race date stacked in the upper left corner. It comes in Navy, Orange & Black and Daylight. Each one is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name and finish time added.
