About the race

The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon starts near U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis and loops past Lake of the Isles, Bde Maka Ska, Lake Harriet and Lake Nokomis. It then follows the Mississippi River north, crosses into Saint Paul and climbs east up Summit Avenue, past historic homes and the Cathedral of Saint Paul, before finishing at the Minnesota State Capitol.

The first Twin Cities Marathon was held on October 3, 1982, when Minneapolis and St. Paul combined their separate marathon events. Medtronic became its first corporate sponsor in 2006. The race is run in early October, and runners and press often call it the most beautiful urban marathon in America, a line that comes from promotional and review material rather than an official source.

The poster draws the course on a deep green street map of the two cities, with the lakes and the Mississippi in dark blue and the route in orange. Two white dots mark the start in Minneapolis and the finish in St. Paul. The race date runs down the left edge, and a small orange maple leaf badge sits at top right. It comes in one colorway, Teal & Orange. It is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name and finish time added.
