Tunnel Vision Marathon
Downhill from Snoqualmie Pass, through a 2.4-mile tunnel, to North Bend.
About the race
The Tunnel Vision Marathon is a point-to-point race that starts at Hyak, near Snoqualmie Pass, at about 2,550 feet. About a half mile in, runners enter the Snoqualmie Tunnel, which is pitch black for 2.4 miles, so a headlamp is required. After the tunnel the course covers about five more miles through forested slopes to the Iron Horse State Park trailhead at Rattlesnake Lake, then follows the Snoqualmie Valley trail through second-growth forest to the finish near North Bend.
The surface is smooth, packed gravel, and the course drops about 1,000 feet net, which makes it one of the fastest Boston qualifiers around. It is run in August and is organized by Team Run Run, who also put on sister races through other tunnels.
The poster draws the course on a black map of the pass, with the route in orange, Keechelus Lake in navy at the start and the race date running down the right edge. White-ringed dots mark the start and finish. It comes in one colorway, Orange & Black. It is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name, finish time and placing added at the bottom.
