About the race

The Philadelphia Marathon starts at 22nd Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The course runs through Old City and Center City, past University City and along the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park, with a stretch out to Manayunk. Official stations are on Columbus Boulevard, Walnut Street, Kelly Drive, Lansdowne Drive, Ridge Avenue and Main Street in Manayunk, and the Avenue of the Republic Carousel House is near mile 10.

The first race was held in 1994 with about 1,500 participants. It is run in November, the course is USATF certified and a Boston qualifier, and runners finish by heading for the steps of the Art Museum. Neighborhoods along the way, including University City and Manayunk, turn out to cheer.

The poster traces the 2025 course in color-changing segments with white mile dots on a black map, with the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers in navy and the race date set vertically at the top right. A line at the bottom names Old City, University City, Fairmount Park and Manayunk. Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name, bib number and finish time added.
