About the race

The Missoula Marathon is a point-to-point race. It starts in the Frenchtown valley northwest of town and follows the valley and the Clark Fork River into Missoula. The finish is at Caras Park beside the Beartracks Bridge, formerly the Higgins Avenue Bridge, in downtown Missoula. The course is flat and fast, with one climb near the middle, and it is USATF certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier.

The official site says the race began as a community event started by local runners who wanted to share Missoula with visitors. It has grown into a destination marathon with runners from all 50 states and more than a dozen countries, and it has been named the best marathon in the U.S. by Runner's World readers. It is run in late June, and many runners add hiking, floating or fishing around the weekend.

The poster traces the course on a dark map of the valley, with the Clark Fork in deep blue, the route in a spectrum of colors that change mile by mile, and a white dot at each mile. The elevation, date and the 26.2-mile distance are on the poster. It is an 8x10. Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the details you choose added to it.
