Lake Placid Half Marathon
Mirror Lake, the ski jumps and River Road, finishing on the Olympic speed skating oval.
About the race
The Lake Placid Marathon and Half Marathon starts on Main Street in the Olympic Village. Runners circle Mirror Lake for about three miles, then leave town past the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds and the Olympic ski jumps and turn onto River Road, which follows the Ausable River with the High Peaks and Whiteface Mountain in view. The half is USATF certified, mostly flat and rolling with some hills, and the finish includes one 400-meter lap around the Olympic speed skating oval where Eric Heiden won five individual gold medals in 1980.
Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980, and the 2026 edition was the 21st annual race, held in June. Runner's World has ranked it among the best destination races in the country, and the race is a Boston qualifier.
The poster draws the half marathon on a black map of the village and the Ausable River valley, with Mirror Lake and the river in navy and the route in orange. The start is marked with a white dot beside the lake. The race date runs down the left edge. It comes in one colorway, Orange & Black. It is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name, finish time and placing added at the bottom.
