About the race

The full-distance triathlon in Madison starts with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Monona alongside Monona Terrace in downtown Madison. Athletes run up the Terrace's parking helix to transition, then ride about 16 miles out of town to two loops through the rolling farm country of Dane County, passing through Verona, before heading back to Madison for 112 miles in all. The marathon is two loops through downtown, the University of Wisconsin campus and Camp Randall Stadium, with a stretch on State Street, and it finishes on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard below the State Capitol.

Madison hosted its first full-distance triathlon on September 15, 2002, and the race comes back every September. The climb up the Helix is a local tradition, and so is the crowd at the Verona festival. On the run, State Street and Camp Randall fill with spectators, and the last steps come with the Capitol dome behind the finish line.

Our poster draws all three legs on one map of Madison and Dane County, with the swim in green, the bike in red and the run in blue. It comes in four styles on a black map. Standard marks each leg with white mile dots, Multicolor changes the route's color mile by mile, No Miles uses a fine outlined line with no markers, and Solid uses bold lines in each leg's color. Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the athlete's name, swim, bike and run splits, and total time added.
