Triathlon Lake Placid
Swim Mirror Lake, ride to Keene and Wilmington twice, finish on the Olympic Oval.
About the race
The full-distance triathlon in Lake Placid starts with a 2.4-mile swim in Mirror Lake, two 1.2-mile laps along the village shore. Athletes then run from the beach to transition at the Olympic Oval. The bike is 112 miles over two loops through Lake Placid, Keene, Upper Jay, Jay and Wilmington in the Adirondack high peaks.
The marathon is also two loops. It runs out past the horse show grounds and the Olympic ski jumps to a turnaround on River Road, then returns along Mirror Lake. The finish is on the Olympic Speedskating Oval, and local press call the finish there spectator friendly. The race is held in July, and the 2024 race was billed as its 25th running.
The poster gives each leg its own panel on a light terrain map of the High Peaks: the swim in yellow on Mirror Lake, the long bike loop in blue and the run in red, with each distance set in bold type underneath. Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the athlete's name and finish time added.
