About the race

The Chevron Houston Marathon shares one start line with the Aramco Houston Half Marathon and finishes at the George R. Brown Convention Center downtown. The course is flat and fast and USATF certified. According to Wikipedia it runs through Houston Heights, Hermann Park, Rice University, Uptown and Memorial Park and along Allen Parkway, and the half marathon splits from the marathon at mile 7.6.

The first Houston Marathon was run in 1972 in Memorial Park, and it is now held in January on a Sunday. The official course page cites more than 250,000 spectators along the route, with Hoopla cheer stations and refueling stations every 1.5 miles. The race is a popular Boston Marathon qualifier.

The poster traces the route as a thin line on a black street map of Houston, with Buffalo Bayou winding through the northern half, the race's logo at the top right and the date at the lower right. It comes in two colorways: Orange (16x20) and Blue (12x18). Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name and finish time added at the bottom left, plus a bib number on the Blue version if you'd like one.
