JAL Honolulu Marathon
Ala Moana to Hawaii Kai and back past Diamond Head to a finish at Kapiolani Park.
About the race
The Honolulu Marathon starts in the dark at 5 a.m. on Ala Moana Boulevard beside Ala Moana Beach Park. The first miles run through downtown along Honolulu Harbor past Aloha Tower, then up South King Street past Iolani Palace and Kawaiahao Church. The course enters Waikiki, passes the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park, and circles Diamond Head before heading east on Kalanianaole Highway through Kahala and Aina Haina to Hawaii Kai.
At mile 16 the course loops the Hawaii Kai waterway near Koko Head crater and Hanauma Bay, then doubles back along the coast. It returns past Diamond Head and finishes on Kalakaua Avenue near the Kapiolani Park Bandstand. The first race was held in December 1973, and it is run in December every year.
Our poster draws the route on a map of Oahu's south shore, with Diamond Head and the Koolau mountains in the background. It comes in three styles on a landscape layout. Gray & Red is a pale map with a red route, Navy & Orange has a black map and navy sea, and Navy with Elevation adds a white elevation profile along the bottom. Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name and finish time added, with the race date at bottom right.
