About the race

The Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon starts downtown and heads east through Bexley, past the Governor's Mansion and Capital University. It loops back through Franklin Park and Old Town East, runs south through German Village and north on High Street through downtown and the Short North. The route then passes through the Ohio State campus, including Ohio Stadium, and continues through Upper Arlington and Victorian Village before finishing near Nationwide Arena.

The first Columbus Marathon was held in 1978 and the race has run each year since 1980 (except 2020). It is held on the third Sunday in October, and its cloverleaf layout lets spectators see runners at several points within a short walk. The course is flat and fast, and the race benefits Nationwide Children's Hospital.

The poster draws the course on a dark street map of Columbus, with the Olentangy and Scioto rivers in navy and the route in orange. The title has the Ohio outline standing in for the O in COLUMBUS. It comes in two orange and black layouts: one with the runner's name, bib and finish time in a row along the bottom, and one with the name in large type at the top. Each is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's own details added.
