Buffalo Marathon
Downtown to the Lake Erie waterfront, then north through Delaware Park and Forest Lawn.
About the race
The Buffalo Marathon starts at Delaware Avenue and Huron Street in downtown Buffalo. The course runs out to Lake Erie and the downtown waterfront, past KeyBank Center, then heads north to Forest Lawn Cemetery and Delaware Park, where the official page places a water stop around mile 17. It uses parks and parkways designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and passes Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin D. Martin House, Louis Sullivan's Guaranty Building and Kleinhans Music Hall.
The marathon is held on Memorial Day weekend. The official site calls the course flat and fast, USATF sanctioned and a Boston qualifier, with bands along the route and a post-race party at the finish. The 2026 guide celebrates the 25th anniversary of the race weekend.
The poster traces the route in red on a street map of Buffalo, with the Niagara River and Lake Erie along the left edge and the distance and race name at the bottom right. It comes in one style, Light, on a pale gray map. Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name, bib number and finish time added.
