Austin Marathon
From Congress Avenue over the river, through Hyde Park and campus, to the Capitol.
About the race
The Austin Marathon starts at 2nd Street and Congress Avenue in downtown Austin and finishes at 9th Street and Congress, in front of the Texas State Capitol. In between it crosses the Colorado River and takes in South Congress, historic Hyde Park, East Austin and the University of Texas campus.
Motorola founded the race in 1992, and the February 2026 running was its 35th. Live bands play along the course and the finish puts the Capitol at the top of Congress Avenue. The course is USATF certified. A new course debuted in 2018 with the same first half as before and a second half that sends marathoners east, then north up Guadalupe Street through the UT campus.
The poster traces the route in orange on a black street map of Austin, with the river drawn in deep blue, the start and finish marked near Congress Avenue and the race date set vertically at the top right. Each poster is designed by hand after you order, with the runner's name, bib number and finish time added.
